Sashaying into its seventh year, the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) is set to rock the city with glitz and glam from 21 to 25 August 2019 at Pavilion KL.
An event that cultivates creativity in all forms, KLFW is an event that not only treasures Malaysians labels, but also discovers uprising talents. This year, there will be more than 80 local designers showcasing their Ready-To-Wear (RTW) collections. In true KL fashion, nothing short of astonishing is anticipated this year.
Every year, KLFW welcomes over 150,000 people throughout the five-day event to witness the collections of our Malaysian designers. It was first conceptualised in 2013 as a platform for Malaysian designers to showcase their RTW collections and ultimately, it highlights the strength and creativity of the Malaysian fashion industry to both domestic and international markets.
This year, KLFW continues to push every possible boundary of all the homegrown designers, including experimenting with different design elements or breaking away from their common design aesthetics.
To kickstart its seventh year, KLFW will be introducing 12 uprising homegrown designers which are Techniq, Maqilla, Rafeoff, Sierra Chong, Mells, Duchess & Co, Bev C, Pestle & Mortar Clothing, Behati, TnTCo, Wynka and Phyn Studio.
Making their long-awaited comeback stage, dazzling shows are definitely expected from influential figures Hatta Dolmat and Syaiful Baharim. Lastly, KLFW won’t live up to its name without these Top 10 Powerhouse Malaysian Designers which are Alia Bastamam, Rizman Ruzaini, Fiziwoo, Syomirizwa Gupta, Afiq M, Innai Red, Nurita Harith, Ezzati Amira, Jovian Mandagie, and MimpiKita.
Aside from helping designers to grow, KLFW is taking the industry partners together in this fashion forward journey, shaping the future of Malaysia fashion and lifestyle industry. AirAsia is proud to be the preferred travel partner for this year’s event.
With the ascending lifestyle of zero-waste living, KLFW speaks up for sustainability by forming ‘Design to Sustain’, a collaboration with AirAsia, the Commonwealth Fashion Council of UK, and United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals to promote sustainable and ethical fashion.
