Facebook, IG and Whatsapp Are Down Including in Malaysia. Here Are What You Can Do

If your work relies heavily on social media, here are what you can do at the moment that has nothing to do with fixing that particular problem.

This might be clickbait, but it’s for the greater good.

1. Strike odd conversations

Walk around the office and say hi. By this we really mean saying ‘hi’ with the follow-up “how are you” Not just the obligatory greeting with the standard dead-behind-the-eye Tom Cruise smile, but an attempt at genuine communication.

Understandably, most people aren’t used to this kind of interaction. So it’s up to you to initiate it. Build up the conversation.

Start telling briefly about the traffic this morning (small talk), proceed about your financial situation (more personable), and finish it with a lengthy story about how you used to aspire to be an F1 driver, but now you are tied with kids and mortgage to even think about it (more intimate).

2. Talk to someone new

Take it up a notch by talking to someone new. Keep an eye on the strategic spots such as the water dispenser, the bean bags area (which surely haven’t been washed since they were first bought), and the pantry.

Get your timing right as well. Wait for the moment that guy/girl is about to fill their water bottle, then get there first to keep them back in line for an opportunity to say, “Oh hey, I’ve never to talked to you before.”

Even better, allow them to take their turn first to leave a good impression. This is a long game. The next time Facebook is down again, that’s where you started asking which department they are in.

3. Call your crush(es)

Whatsapp is down, Telegram is only for the techies, and SMS is awkward.

So go ahead, make that call to the people that you have been admiring for quite a while already. For some of us, this can be daunting, but there are no perfect excuses than now.

Make up some backstory on why it is vital for you to call now, that you can’t afford to wait until Whatsapp is back up. Perhaps you wanted to pass a simple message from your other friends. Perhaps you want to remind them that they are in charge of church service this Sunday, or perhaps you can just tell them how you feel.

OR perhaps, you might want to call your mom instead.

4. Write a pointless article

Limitation breeds creativity. Tragedy produce masterpieces. We’re not saying that this is a masterpiece, but it sure does kills some time.

Oh hey, we think it’s back again. Time to actually be productive now. Ta.

What do you think?
