Airlines’ Nonstop Flights to Oaxaca, Mexico Opens up Previously Hard-to-Reach
Destination to U.S. Travelers Travel 360 Introduces
Guelaguetza Festival, Oaxacan Folklore Package July 22-28 Milwaukee, WI May 10 /Xpress Press/ - Thanks to Continental Airlines recent
announcement of nonstop service to Oaxaca, Mexico from Houston beginning in
June, Travel 360 (www.travel360.com) has begun offering Houston to Oaxaca,
Mexico packages. Niche agency, Travel 360 has been providing discriminating
travelers with customized itineraries to Mexico and Hawaii since 1995. Oaxaca, located in the Sierra Madre del Sur Mountains in southern Mexico, is
a tourist center known for its temperate year-round weather, colonial church
architecture, Oaxacan cuisine, pottery and textiles as well as its important
archeological sites including Monte Alban and Mitla. Guelaguetza, an annual celebration with roots dating back 3000 years, has
been a major celebration in Oaxaca since 1932. Over the past 72 years it has
become a highly publicized major spectacle and, in 1974, an amphitheater seating
about 11,000 was built to accommodate this most impressive expression of Oaxacan
folklore. “Oaxaca is a fabulous destination but has always been difficult to reach,
until now,” said Tom Cotter, General Manager of Travel 360. "Visiting Oaxaca is like stepping back in time, with its colonial
architecture, and quaint atmosphere; your senses are fully engaged all the time.
The comment we hear most often is of the warmth and friendliness of the people,"
added Cotter. Continental Express will utilize the 50-passenger Embraer regional jet for
its service on the route. The airplanes feature jet-bridge loading, a fully
equipped galley, and a comfortable interior with only window and aisle seating.
